I
am, for the most part, a self-taught artist. I have been drawing
and painting since childhood. I did attend The Art Institute of
Chicago for three years, majoring in interior design. Although
I
enjoyed that aspect of the art field, my real desire was just to
paint. After raising two daughters, I have been able to dedicate
myself to painting.
My studio, "Three Oaks", is located on our ranch, "Three
Oaks Ranch" in Bryan, Texas. My husband and I raise limousin
cattle. We have a summer home in Michigan where I enjoy painting,
the woods, the lakeshore and surrounding areas.
I work in oil doing landscapes and still life. I enjoy Plein Air
work, working in my studio during the winter months setting up my
own still life compositions. Being an avid gardener, the roses in
my floral compositions are from my rose garden. I would say my style
is "Painterly". I like the look of loose brush strokes
and I am attracted to any subject that is bright with light, rich
color and deep shadows.
I have been a member of the Brazos Valley Art League for the past
five years and have won numerous awards for my work and have sold
paintings to collectors in Michigan, Delaware, Tennessee, Australia,
as well as Texas. |
